On October 6, 2019 the Hellenic Cultural Foundation (HCF) celebrated 35 years of support for Greek studies at the University of Arizona (UA) with a beautiful evening hosted by friends of the HCF, Peter and Paula Fasseas. The HCF provides scholarships for UA students studying Greek language (both ancient and modern), history, philosophy, civilization, art, and archaeology and encourages a deeper understanding of Greece, its land and people through lectures and other events in Tucson. Members of the classics, art history, and anthropology faculty at the UA who are passionate Philhellenes and teach courses in Greek studies attended the event, as well as UA students who were recipients of the 2019 HCF scholarships.  Also in attendance were many members of the Greek community in Tucson, as well as current and past board members of HCF, including HCF president Mary Voyatzis, vice president Irene Romano, secretary Dee Economou, and treasurer Pete Tountas.  Past presidents Bill Polson and Jim Tsighis were also present, as was one of the original founders, Richard Kinkade.

HCF wishes to express its deepest gratitude for the generous support from the Tucson community, the Dorrance Foundation, and especially from Peter and Paula Fasseas.
